Impressions of Rajasthan

Straight out of a tale from the Arabian Nights, Rajasthan with its palaces, its maharajas, its temples and its harmoniously colored towns presents itself as a real invitation to travel. In every city as in every village, color is there. In Jaipur, pink is required on all the facades that line the straight streets of the city, the houses of Jodhpur all painted blue nestle at the foot of the Mehrangarh citadel, Udaipur bursts with whiteness around Lake Pichola, Jaisalmer sports the ocher color of the sand of the Thar desert which it dominates from its fortress. Everywhere in the countryside and villages a range of dazzling colors caresses the visitor's eye; red, fuchsia or yellow for the men's turbans, shimmering colors for the saris or for the ample skirts of the women who display strings of white bracelets.
